Can I also do this statement (2) like this:
x+3 = positive number
x = -3

Putting x= - 3 in x+3:
-3 + 3 = 0

0 is neither positive nor negative. So statement 2 is insufficient

Hi, the question does not mention x is a integer. so can we take x as 0.5
just little confused..

Prateek,

Yes, x does not need to be an integer. If you are referring to statement 2, then x=0.5 would answer the question as No, and you could use x=- 1.5 to answer the question as Yes. However, here integer values do the job so the example I used are sufficient.
